From time to time at auctions, it happens that a lot that was not on your target list is about to be knocked down for so little that you just have to stick in a bid.
That happened today.
So I bought five ancient bottles for little more than the 2003's would have cost me!
One is an old re-corked bottle, who's only means of identification is it's original cork, which is attached to it, identifying it as Martinez, but vintage unknown.
The only TN's I can find on old Martinez are from Broadbent, and none of them recent. I would be interested to hear of any encounters.
I will probably broach this bottle before the end of the year, and will report!
The other bottles were:
Graham 1908
Tuke Holdsworth 1912
Sandeman 1945
Smith Woodhouse 1947
All have modest levels - excuses to consume are welcome!
Tom
Very old Martinez - and friends
