1995 Taylor Quinta de Vargellas Vintage Port

Post by Mike J. W. »

Color: Burgundy Red, Rim: Clear, Meniscus: Thin, Weight (Viscosity): Medium - Thick, Nose: All Spice, Ripe Blackberries, Cigar Ash, Taste: Sweet Blackberries, Cocoa, Pepper and Mint on a long finish, Acidity: Medium, Mid-palate, Late, Tannins: Medium, Mid-palate, Late, Sweetness Level: Medium, Early, Mid-palate, Finish: Long, Smooth. I believe this was about an 8 1/2 hour decant.

Drank from a half-bottle, this Port was ready to go. It was a nice SQVP courtesy of John M. winning a bunch at auction. The bottle was in great shape and was just a really pleasant Port to sip. I would give this 93 points.
"I have often thought that the aim of Port is to give you a good and durable hangover, so that during the next day you should be reminded of the splendid occasion the night before." - Hungarian/British journalist & author George Mikes
