I bought those 2 bottles this past week-end in New York from the review I saw on your London tasting. It was so tempting and I don't have any experience with old Fonseca. For your info, it cost me less for the two bottles than one of Fonseca 1970 at the SAQ, crazy I know!

I'm planning to open one of these during the Christmas holliday, if you would open one, which one would you open and why?

Thanks for your comments

Tough choice Frederick.

Both of these wines are outstanding Vintage Ports. I could not decide which I like more, so I am glad your request is for which to open this holiday season. That is a much simpler question.

I would open the 1970 Fonseca, because at the moment it is the more complete wine and given enough time in the decanter will provide you with one of the greatest Port experiences of your young life!

Congratulations for making the purchase of two outstanding bottles of VP. :!:

Fred,

I have another suggestion...open them both :D

Open one on Christmas Day and one on New Years Eve. You can then ask Alec to bring replacements with him when he come for the Douro boys trip to Montreal

More seriously, whichever you decide to open I think you will really enjoy the wines. Roy's given you his thoughts and I wouldn't argue with him at all (at least, not on this occasion :D )

Enjoy - and post!
