(Unfiltered)

Grapes: TOURIGA NACIONAL, TOURIGA FRANCESA OG TINTA RORIZ

Color: Deep dark red and violet, quite brilliant.

Nose: Wow heres a lot of nice fruit, plum, blackcurrant, blackberry etc... spices, slightly peppery, chocolate, some licorice.

Palate: Quite big body, very concentrated, great balance, ripe juicy fruit all the way, some spices like pepper, very good balancing tannins that are still young but fine, good acidity to, very long rich and smooth finish.

Foodmatch: Dark chocolate, cheese, pepper steak, duck.

Cellaring: I think it will age well for 10 years.

The best LBV from Noval yet.
:D :D

I totally agree with you, I had this bottle 2 days ago in a blind tasting and really liked it. My only problem with it was that it is a bit to good. It drank so easy, it was so lush and full with a lot more fruit and less acidity than I expected from an LBV.
This is a bit in the same style of for example Quinta Vale dona Maria, a style that I love. But if a customer would come in a wineshop I would have a hard time selling this to him/her if he is looking for a LBV since this tasted more like a young VP.
Just like you I also had the idea this was very young and will age very well.

I haven't had to many LBV's so I cant compare any of the 2001LBV I had with older vintages. So its good to hear the 2001 from this house was a good example of what they can make.

Felix.
Always nice when someone agrees.
I just have the 1998 and 1999 as a reference, and they were a little disepointing to me, as I love Noval. When I say its the best ever, I just asume. :D

Awe yes, Noval does make some very nice unfiltered LBV's.
