For The Love Of Port

I was wondering if any of you out there in port land could tell me whether the Warre's 1990 is a good LBV or not. It is an interesting animal because it says "Bottle Matured" on the label; I assume this means it was a late release bottling. Anyway, I have seen some notes here recently talking positively about the Warre's 92 and 94 LBV's, so was just wondering about this one as well?

Bottle matured means they havn't filtered the life out of it before bottling.

As a result it will have some sediment, so is best decanted.

Tom, Kurt was right, in the case of Warre and Smith Woodhouse when they write bottle matured on the label it means that they kept the LBV in their cellar for bottle aging and they release it when they feel the product is mature and ready to drink.

What you describe is unfiltered or Traditionnal LBV

I'm pretty sure that describing LBV as "traditional" was outlawed by the legislation of 2002. An unfiltered wine that was bottled at least three years previously may be sold as "Bottle matured"

Warre and Smith Woodhouse are the biggest players in this market.
