I was in Harrods Tuesday lunchtime (for the Symingtons tasting of three of their wines - another one today, if anyone is working in London and wants a break from the office) and saw my first 2003 wines.

A bit pricey in there, but I still bought a single bottle of 2003 Vesuvio - this will be my Christmas wine for the holiday this year.

I also shook my head at the pricing of the 2003's compared to older wines. I know we have discussed this before, but I can't resist making the point again.

Warre 2003 - £49
Warre 1983 - £45

Is the 2003 Warre really such a better wine that it will be worth £100+ when it is 20 years old?

Still, I obviously think so as I bought the Vesuvio. Incidentally, UK buyers who buy the Vesuvio six pack in the fancy box also get the book that Fred told us all about.

I think for 2003 I'm not sure so much that the increase is price is due to quality, but moreso because the yields weren't as high this year, so not as much wine was made.
