Are your wallets ready?

A retailer is willing to work a deal for FTLOP, but I am wondering if it is too soon after the Portal offering?

I can put this off for a few weeks or get it done quickly. It is really up to you?

I'll also put this out there ... as there are not a ton of bottles available.

:ftlop: Subscriber's ONLY or open it up for everyone?

You have the power of the vote ... use it!

I'm merely hopeful that this retailer will ship to me in Virginia! I still don't understand how some retailers will ship to me (and do so regularly) and others will not....

It has to do with whether they actually understand your state's regulations and whether they are willing to risk getting caught.

I find some will ship to Michigan by asserting that they sold me the wine in their state, and are merely acting as my agent to arrange for shipping my own wine to me. Michigan is pretty clear: retailers cannot ship to individuals; wineries can (if they jump through some fairly serious hoops).

I'm ready whenever, but I still haven't received all of the Port that I ordered from the last 2 offers! (Neither is late... the Noval Port Library and the 2007 Portal weren't scheduled to ship until "this fall" anyway.)

My wallet isn't ready, but I know I won't get much sympathy on this--I just got back from vacation in Hawaii and put in my order for some of the Portal.

Glad I am not the only one still waiting on Noval. Although, I have not received either the 2007 or the others.

I believe that everyone is still waiting on the Noval offer. My understanding is that it is shipping very soon.
Personally, I can't take an offer right now. I haven't even been charged for the Noval offer, but they have said they will charge me as soon as it ships.

Hi Roy,

yes my wallet is dying to open for your offer!

Is there any chance of buying opportunities for "the Old World"?

Anton

Hello my friend.

Anton, I wish I had influence over retailers in the EU, but that is not the case. I can't bring enough critical mass to bear to make it worth their while to offer FTLOPers anything. Shipping to other countries is easier there (how sad for us!) than it is to get a package of wine from Chicago to Michigan (and those states are contiguous). Something wrong with THAT picture.

Sorry my friend, at best I could arrange a deal on Port through friends at a UK retailer, even possibly BB&R where I know a couple of folks.

Although the offers are of no use to me personally (sadly, I must add), I voted to keep this subscriber's only. I believe these offers are one of the things that provide added value to FTLOP subscription, it's a great reason for people to finally come out of the closet and subscibe! That said, it might be a good idea to limit the number of offers to 4-5 a year, in order to give people a chance to participate in as many deals as possible. Just my :twocents:

The offer will be forthcoming in 24 hours or less.

The good news, is they WILL ship to Virginia. Not only that, but if you have a FEDEX account, they will ship overseas too.

I am in turmoil, on the one hand wanting great deals to save money, and on the other wanting the deals to not be so great such that I might be able to resist them a bit. [kez_11.gif]

Didn't you know? Resistance is futile.

Pretty grim that over a quarter of the responders have no hope of ever getting in on one of these for the foreseeable future.

(My state legislature resists for me.)

Roy, it would help a lot if you could determine whether the firm offering each deal is willing to subscribe to the idea that title passes to the buyer in the firm's state and the firm is merely the agent who arranges for shipping of the buyer's wines to them in another state.

Some do; some don't.

If you could find out and PM or email "wrong state" responders, so as not to publicize these shipments.

Peter,

I can't help the legal system which is broken in our country. So all I can do in my offer is present which states are not able to buy in. Sorry you live in MI a backwoods state when it comes to dealing with wine issues. Call your state Senators and legislators to bitch. Sorry man, it is not my fault. :scholar:

As I am now "on the road" Stewart will be sending out my email, tonight. [cheers.gif]

You can always get storage in NY/NJ (or hit up relative and/or friends) that will ship your wine.

Did everyone (subscribers) receive their copy of the offer? I just want to make sure with the maintenance to :ftlop: that the offering did go out.

Thanks!
