2003 TAYLOR FLADGATE LBV PORT

Filtered. T-cork. Bottled 2009

Deep rich ruby.

Big fruity licorice, blueberry, boysenberry, black cherry, cassis.
Deep blue-black-purple fruited lilac & violet nose.

Big, rich, fruity, sappy/spicy palate.
Black & blue fruit, hint of beet with big, big licorice that continues into a very long smooth, creamy extended finish infused with rich vivid purple fruit, violet, lilac, black cherry & dark chocolate.
Some very smooth wood & skin tannins are blanketed by the length & extended rich fruit of this wine.
Great length. Nice concentration mid-palate.

93 Points

Neck & neck with the Dow '03 LBV for me. Taylor being slightly sweeter, richer & fuller; Dow having slightly more concentration.

I am Loving these '03 LBV Ports!

:D

I am drinking this right now. Great stuff. I bought a few over Christmas in the supermarket sales for around £10 and they are excellent value at that price. Despite the fact it is filtered, I have put 6 bottles into storage as an experiment to see how this develops over a few years. Hopefully my grey cells will last long enough to remember this thread and post a TN here 10 years from now  [cheers.gif]
