I had to go back through my notes and photos from this year, in order to compile a list of my favorite Portuguese white wines that I opened this year. These white wines are not listed in any particular order, but it does include which region they are from.
- 2022 Quevedo "Q Lab" Branco Folgasão (Douro, same grape as Madeira's Terrantez)
- 2018 Insula Vinus Verdelho (Pico Island, Azores from maestro Paulo Machado)
- 2015 Pedra Cancela "Intemporal" (Dão, Encruzado, thrilled to have a couple more)
- 2020 Antonio Maçanita Palpite Reserva (Alentejo, a great food wine in perfect harmony)
- 2015 Anselmo Mendes, Parcela Unica (Vinho Verde, yes, they can and do improve with age)
- 2023 Já Foste Branco (Douro, translates to, "you are gone" a new project by Luis Rodrigues)
- 2013 Ribeiro Santo Encruzado (Dão, by Carlos Lucas, “The Encruzado Whisperer”)
- 2022 Quevedo Branco Grande Reserva (Douro, maybe Claudia Quevedo’s finest White ever)
- 2022 Quinta do Noval Vinho Branco Reserva (Douro, tasted on tour, then purchased cases)
- 2011 Niepoort Redoma Branco Reserva (Douro, I overpaid, but it was worth every Euro)
- 2019 Azores Wine Company "Vinha Centenaria" (Pico Island, Azores, head turner for sure)
- 2014 Pera Manca Branco - magnum (Alentejo, not even a great year in the region, but …)
