Chicago Port Tastings?

Post by David Sweet »

Does anyone know of any Port tastings in the Chicago area this fall/winter?

Another way of asking might be--Is Roy coming to town??

Many thanks!

David - It's a coincidence to find this question raised in this Forum. Yesterday, while in Oporto, I paid a visit to my former colleagues at the IVDP (The Douro and Port Wine Institute) and asked about this year's Port Tastings in the USA. According to the answers I got and also due to the short time notice for this Fall/Winter I would say it's very unlikely to see an IVDP Port Tasting hosted in the Chicagoland area by this year's end. Nevertheless, I would expect a 2006 Chicago Port Wine Tasting hosted by the IVDP in the Windy City.
best. Mario.

"We are honored to welcome guest pourer, Robert Bower of the Taylor Fladgate partnership, in the kickoff tasting of the Porto season. Sample wines from the newly released 2003 Vintage as well as vintage character, wood ports, single quintas and late bottled vintage and find out the difference in this unique wine tasting event. Please note I've found about this event at Local Wine Events. [I'm a regular at this site :)]

Is there a schedule of where (and when), in the US, we will see Port Wine Tastings hosted by the IVDP in Fall/Winter 2005 and then in 2006?

There were two in a row here in Portland, Oregon a couple of years ago -- but nothing in the past two years. And I haven't been able to figure out where they are being held instead.
