Ambition driven by passion, rather than money, is as strong an elixir as is Port. http://www.fortheloveofport.com

Wow, there are some really nice bottles in that listing!

The estimates seem high to me, especially for a UK auction, but that's probably due to it being Christies and ex-cellars bottles.

G70 Tappit Hens. G94 Imperial. V94 15-liter. G00 15-liter which includes two seats on the Graham's boat in the Barco Rabello race during the Sao Joao festival next June 24th. And much more. Doesn't get much cooler than that!

Wish I could attend. I'd love to bid on a couple of those lots, but I doubt I'd win any of them.

For the 750s I think you are paying for the provenance. Those bottles look beautiful.

For the big bottles, and particularly the really big bottles (9 & 15 litres ), the estimates seem reasonable, and I bet they go for a fair bit more. 15 liters of Grahams 2000, plus the seats on the Barco Rebello boat, for $890? O.k., +buyer's premium, oh and then there are the dagger and double-dagger marks indicating possible tax implications. If these bottles were being offered in the US I would be putting in some bids. But they aren't, and given the market here, I doubt we will see anything similar.

Man, those 15L bottles would be wonderful to build a cellar around and open when you're old and gray. They also have to be impossible to open/decant. I have a ton of issues with 3-5L bottles, I can't imagine trying to serve a 15L.

I hear that a straw works, not so much for decanting, but for drinking [kez_11.gif]
I was at a wedding recently where we opened a 6L. Pouring wasn't so bad, but just getting out the oversized cork was a bit of a struggle.

The 1802 Acciaioly Terrantez went for £7020! That's about $11,350

The two 12 x G70 lots went for £1050 each. That's a lot more than the $900 that Miguel and I pad from Zachy's!

The 6 x 2011 Stone Terraces lot went for £850. I have not yet heard whether or not that was my bid. That is less than my max bid, but the instructions I left weren't very clear so I may not have actually been bidding on that lot. :(

Glenn's cornering of the 2011 Stone Terraces market (possibly) continues!

That sure was a good purchase in hindsight!

And there was a 3rd lot that got no love. :))

Eric - remember that the $11,350 does not include the 20% VAT!

I don't think so, but oddly enough I do not know for sure. I'm now hopeful again! :-)

I've sent a PM to the appropriate person and will let you know... thanks for the reminder!
