Hey y'all:
I was shopping at Grocery Outlet, a chain of discount grocery stores up here in Seattle, and saw that they had a bunch of 1980 Tuke Holdsworth VP for $24.99 per bottle. Checking out the internet (including the Tasting Notes database here) revealed not a single note or review of this wine. I bought a bottle because...well $24.99 for a 25 yro VP isn't bad. Haven't cracked it yet but probably will this week.
Anybody have any history with this VP? Not sure if I should go back and buy the other 15 or so bottles they had.

At that price, crack that sucker open now so you know whether or not you need to go back and buy the rest! LOL
The Tuke Holdsworth brand is now part of Sogrape (along with Sandeman, Ferreira, Offley, et al). A long time ago it was the brand of Hunt Roope & Teage, but was sold to Ferreira back in the 1950s.

I've had mixed results with the various TH ports I've gotten from GC before. I second Glenn where you should definitely crack the bottle open pronto to decide whether to scoop up the rest.

Even if it's just OK, at the price it's no brainer for at least 5-6 bottles.

Just decanted this and the color is great. The nose is quite good and enticing. Used the Hersch Method to open. Will decant for 4 to 5 hours and drink with Dr. Who tonight. The cork says Robertson on it and seems newer than I would have expected from a 1980. Full notes once it decants.
