An excellent read on a 1792 Madeira

Ambition driven by passion, rather than money, is as strong an elixir as is Port. http://www.fortheloveofport.com

Chocolate and spearmint

Post by Julian D. A. Wiseman »

I have tasted one of this cache of the "Blandy's" 1792 malmsey (bottled by Blandy's in 1840), and found it huge, and full of chocolate and spearmint (!). Did I like it? Yes and no — I certainly preferred the more 'conventional' eighteen-hundreds Madeiras served with it.

It was certainly an honour to have tasted it.
