Roy, love the site and your TNs. I noticed no entry for either Fonseca 92 or Fonseca 97. Any comments on these two, especially 92 vs 94 Fonseca.
Cheers

1992 v 1994 Fonseca
Hi Barry,
I tasted both of these in Nov '04 at a 1970-1994 vertical. Here are my TN's:
1992 Fonseca
Dark red plum with a strawberry rim. Plenty of red fruits and a focused backbone of alcohol that will need several years to integrate. My second sip confirms to me what my first sip has told me, namely very ripe plum fruit showing beautiful balance and poise. Waves of pleasure that are still ever so youthful. There is a prickle of alcohol on the mid palate but none on the finish. A serious Port that will need at least another 10-15 years to begin to strut its stuff. 94/100.
1994 Fonseca
Dark plum red all the way to the rim. Tight herbs and plum fruit waft from my glass. Explosive fruit and a hint of alcohol on the entry. Lots of waves of red and black fruits. Surprisingly easy to drink and I would even go so far as to say highly enjoyable. It has the backbone to last several decades but this seems to be mostly hidden. Extremely impressive and my favourite Port of the entire tasting. 96+/100.

I hold the palate of Nicos in very high esteem and over the past few years he has become one of the most informed Port aficionados I have come across. You can take his TN and ratings to the bank when it comes to VP!
Ambition driven by passion, rather than money, is as strong an elixir as is Port. http://www.fortheloveofport.com

I am humbled by your very kind and sincere words. In my opinion, you are one of the world's top experts when it comes to matters of Port and Madeira.
Thank you.
Nicos
