2000 Taylor Vintage Port

Post by mwaters »

From my WineSpectator post:

After tasting the 01 Fonseca G and the 91 Graham I find the 2000 Taylor the best of the 3. The purple/black colour right out of the bottle, thick body and grape concentrate on the finish I found amazing. I only tasted one good pour of this unfortunately due to time but this is a port I need in my cellar.

Mwaters,

If you go to the archived articles on this website, or even the Tasting Note section ... you'll find my cask sample and follow up tasting notes on the 2000 Ports that you mentioned in your posting. I prefer Fonseca at this stage, but Taylor always takes awhile to show its cards to the dealer. Both are great wines and along with quite a few others, should be part of any serious Port collection. These are long lived wines and absolutely beautiful VPs. I have not had the '91 Graham's in awhile and the last time I did, it was one of the better wines of that very fine, yet under appreciated vintage.
Ambition driven by passion, rather than money, is as strong an elixir as is Port. http://www.fortheloveofport.com
