Work in Portugal

Hi, I'm not sure I'm at the right place for that kind of information, but I try anyway !

I live in Canada and am still a student. I work this summer and will go back to school in january, so I have a hole for 3-4 months. I went to France, Spain and Portugal last year as a tourist and really enjoyed the end of the trip in the Gaia/Porto area. I would love to go back there in september-october-november. The problem, if it is, is that I would have to work a bit there to pay a part of the trip. I looked a bit on Internet but I don't find a lot of information about that. I could do about anything, as long as I don't have to speak a lot because I speak french and english only !

I would love to work for a Port producer, any kind of work, but I know it's probably hard. Any kind of job would be great ! If you have any idea or contact or whatever you judge usefull, please let me know !

There are some French owned Port houses like Rozes that might be willing to hire you as a tour guide. It is going to be very hard to line up a job from a far. They'll want to interview you first and it might be difficult to do so by internet and phone. I wish you lots of luck in your job hunt.

It is nice to see you back here again Philippe. Have you been visiting here on occasion or just came back for this topic? Just curious.

Thanks for your answer Roy, I'll try to contact some more Port houses.

I didn't write on the board since my introduction post, but I read every 2 or 3 days. I don't write for 2 reasons. First, I don't drink port as often as most of the members here. Next, my english isn't that good and it's really hard for me to describe a wine in my second language.

Call ICEP or the Portugal ambassy, they will assist you in your findings. Remember that you will need a visit if you want to work legally there, this paper is time consuming, act fast!
