Dark crimson through to the rim. Muted nose with a subtle mix of red berries and a touch of oak. Good acidity and freshness. To start with a little hollow in the mouth, after a few hours the fruit starts to fill the whole mouth leading to a long finish with a faint touch of vanilla and spice. Lovely stuff drunk too soon...I shall look forward to the next. I enjoy this particular wine of Cristiano's it has a subtly and freshness I don't find on all wines at this price point in the Douro.

Nice note Adam,
Cristiano and Sandra Tavares make some very nice Douro dry wines, some of the better ones IMO. A number of us here had the 2001 Quinta Vale d. Maria that we found on a wine list in Oporto for cheap. We bought and drank all the bottles they had it was that good. Then we moved on to the 2006 version. A fun night indeed!

I love that 2005! I bought 12 bottles :) Good TN
This wine is especially fresh as Casal de Loivos vineyard is of high altitude, its the high peak behind the village of Pinhao. The view from there is amazing too.
