There are two main rating scales, however, there are several others that are used. The vast majority of American journalists and critics follow the Wine Spectator/Wine Advocate model of 100 points. Certianly not without its inherent flaws. While others in Europe tend towards the 20 point scale, which also has both positive and negative attributes.
What I am interested in finding out is when you read a 20 point scale, do you understand what this translates to in terms of 100 point scores and vice versa?
Would a compartive chart that shows both, be useful for you and if someone already has this, please feel free to post a link.

I think a comparative chart would be useful, because it's not as simple as 20-pt scale * 5 = 100-pt scale.

No, my limited perception is it is more like (20-pt scale - 10) X 2 + 80 = 100-pt scale, but that's a very simple linear mapping.Glenn E. wrote:I think a comparative chart would be useful, because it's not as simple as 20-pt scale * 5 = 100-pt scale.
