A quiet week for me as well.

Smith Woodhouse 2003 VP $ 37
Taylor 2003 LBVP $ 22
Taylor, Dow, and Graham 2007 VPs, around $ 80 per bottle, for my niece, I won't see them when they mature but it is nice to think that she and her husband (and maybe family) will.

2x 2004 Niepoort LBV
2x 2003 Quinta do Noval Porto LBV
1x 2003 Taylor (Fladgate) LBV

I'm really looking forward opening one of these tonight - ive had a cold for two weeks and havn't really wanted to open anything since my sense of smell and taste have been practically nonexistant.

Just received the last of the VPs I bought to restock my cellar in my father's basement before I move to the west coast. I was able to get these wholesale through the shop I was working at so the prices were excellent [cheers.gif] . Hopefully, it will be quite a while before any of these are touched:

2x 2003 Portal VP ($40 ea.)
1x 2003 Noval VP ($60)
2x 2007 Noval VP ($66 ea.)

A bottle of FOnseca 2000 with a 10% rebate... still 120$

I did open it tonight... completly oxydized :( After standing 5 years on SAQ shelves... the cork into many crumbling pieces ... I'm desperate about the SAQ. Why can't they put the bottle lying down.... Am I asking for too much!?!?!

Can you return the bottle to them and claim a refund?

Yes, at least. That is the only positive thing about the SAQ. You get a return policy with the high price you are paying.

That ( unfortunately ) is why I haven't invested in VP in many moons in Montréal
Prefering colheitas , tawnys and 2nd division VP's .
Am I missing out ? most likely .
The reason ( Fred hit the nail on the head ) , the SAQ with Its 800 million $ in profits ( yearly since 2000 or so )
hasn'T trained someone to lay a bottle down in a shelf .
I presume this is a very delicate art form , demanding a certain expertise [shok.gif]
The SAQ should go on spending spree and hire some construction brick layers
Vintage avant jeunesse/or the other way around . . .

2x 2004 Quinto do Crasto VP @ $48

BTW, thanks to whoever suggested WTSO. I've seen several nice wine bargains there.

Lamont,

Where on the west coast are you moving to?

4x Quinta do Crasto Late Bottled Vintage @ $15.99 from WTSO. Sounded like a good price to me. I want to try one now, one in 5 years, one in 10 years, and one in 15 years.

Roy,

I'm moving to Portland, OR. I'll be looking to start up a port club there once I'm settled in and I am planning to look for fellow participants here on FTLOP before anywhere else. Hopefully I'll find some takers! [cheers.gif]
