I'll admit it. I'm rooting for the Orangemen. I've always enjoyed myself in the Netherlands immensely.

Spain vs. Netherlands, I am surprised. Well, there's a rivalry going back more than 400 years.

I'm surprised as well - I didn't think anyone was going to be able to stop Germany.

I think their offense suffered without Mueller. But Spain was definitely the stronger team today and deserved to win. I feel that they will also beat the Dutch, but I just want an exciting game.

Well, well, well, tension is rising over here on a very hot day.
Next tuesday there will be over one million people alongside the canals of Amsterdam to experience the homage of the Golden team of Orange.
There's absolutely no doubt which team is going to be victorious.

OK, I got my wish (after Portugal was eliminated that is) and Holland v Spain promises to be a very good game, and between two teams which have continued to play well throughout the entire tournament.
Who will be victorious?
Finally we have one friend (Anton) from The Netherlands who has "shown up" to comment here ... granted, not until his team had already made the Finals.
Who are you guys rooting for?

Who is your pick for 3rd place? I think it will wind up with Germany victorious.

No other sport has the visceral impact on so many inhabitants of this planet. Two amazing teams, each with their own legend in the making.
May the best team win the Cup!

What an ugly game. Too many yellow cards, both deserved and not, and a few more (or red) could have been given. I understand the ref can give a yellow for flopping too. I wish that would happen once in a while. I've seen it in hockey, but never in soccer.

Yeah, the final was a mess. Between the yellow cards, the lack of offense and the general uninspired play - I was somewhat disappointed that the World Cup didn't finish with a stronger game.

The biggest single sporting event in the world ... and two comments post-game? What's up with that?

It felt like I was watching the Philadelphia Flyers play hockey circa 1974...although it's hard to argue with the Ned. strategy, it worked as they kept it close and could have won.
I do wish FIFA would stop the thuggery, diving etc that takes the Beautiful away from the Beautiful Game.
Nonetheless, I thoroughly enjoyed the whole World Cup...I timed my daily lunch to catch matches..and a big bravo to South Africa who put on a nice show and also to Spain who are an excellent team--a deserving champion.
