Actually, as I get older, I find more occasions to open Mags of Port and table wine. But yes, "Friday" ... is a good reason!

I think that "I'm thirsty" is a sufficiently significant occasion to open a bottle of Port.

That's true - last time I opened a mag from my cellar it was for exactly that reason!

Mind you, I've only ever opened three mags from my cellar in my entire port drinking history.

Well, the cellar is in full swing, it leveled out at 62% humidity according to the electronic gauge I have, going to verify with a second gauge soon. Temperature stays steeady at 55.6 (even on our current 95+ F days). LOVE IT.

So the buying begins in earnest. This week I added:
3 - 2003 DOW
3 - 2003 Grahams
3 - 2003 Quinta de Roriz

also picked up 3 2007 Pinot Noir Anderson Valley by Cakebread Cellars to round out my case. Paid pretty much typical retail prices less 7% case discount and 3% store credit. I am going to suck that store dry...only place in South Denver metro that seems to store high end wines correctly (temperature controlled glass cellar in the store. yay!).

750 spots to go....I plan to have lots of space for 2007's once I can start getting things shipped in the cooler fall weather...

Russ,

Great choices for your new cellar. Sounds like the temp and humidity are great and for CO that is always a challenge. The 2003s you purchased will be rewarding in the future. Thanks for posting on FTLOP, very enjoyable to read!

Monique,

Good to see you again. It has been years and you've been missed. We now have at least one other regular female participant and hope you'll visit us with more frequency in the future. Have a great rest of your summer!
