TN: 2007 Quinta do Vale Meao Douro red

Post by Rune EG »

Decanted 2 hrs. Dark red colour. Fresh aroma of spices and ripe fruit. Full body. Balanced, elegant, in addition to being powerful in a gentle way. Both oak and tannins are nicely integrated in this wine. Long finish. I am getting the impression that there are more developments sitting in the "starting blocks", and just waiting to come out. Therefore I think a few more years in the cellar will be good, and then this wine will develop to even higher scores. I am glad I have four more bottles. 94 pts.

Rune,

We agree again. I had this wine at the end of a tasting last month whilst in Vancouver and also the prior month at the source. It was showing so very well. I think it will improve and add a point or two in time, as it is a GREAT Douro wine. I just purchased more 2007 and 2008 which is also a beauty. Wish I had bought even more, but I split my cases with my best friend in Canada so he could have some of each in his cellar.
