TN: 2008 Quinta do Crasto Reserva Old Vines Douro red

Post by Rune EG »

Decanted 1.5 hrs. Dark red with a light rim. Deep concentrated aroma of fruit, oak and something smoked (meat?). Full body. Very well integrated fruit / oak, and not so much dominated by the oak as previous vintages. Quite “visible” tannins which fits very nicely into this wine. Long, pleasant and powerful finish. Better than the 2007 which I had a few weeks ago. It will be interesting to follow this 2008 in the further development. 93 pts.

Great note and I too liked this just a hair more than the 2007 when they were the same age. I also like how there was less oak showing on this one compared to the 2007 at the same age. BTW, a heads up, I just had the 2008 Crasto Superior Douro and it's pretty darn good...I'll get a TN up soon.
