Cinderella deal today

Post by Brian C. »

I will just put any future Cinderella deal in this thread, to avoid multiple threads floating around that have a shelf life of one day.

Today they are offering Filipa Pato Ensaios White 2008 for $12.52 a bottle. I have had this wine before and enjoyed it. It's a blend of Arinto and Bical.

Link is always http://cinderellawine.com/

I have never ordered from Cinderella, so I don't know how the shipping works, if it is reflected in the price, and if so, how many bottles are needed to get that price.

I've also had good experiences the few times I've bought from them in the past.

Sounds like a no-brainer at that price!

Right now they have Duorum Colheita Tinto Douro '08 for $14.41 per bottle, with free delivery on 6 if I'm reading that right. Anyone try this one before?

Edit: I just noticed it's a presale with August arrival.

Yes, I was with the winemaker from Duorum in May (Jose Maria d'Oprey Soares Franco) and had several of his wines including this one. It's good, not great, but well worth that price, it is a value oriented Douro that is more a quaffer than a sipper, if you know what I mean.

Text from the review is: ""Tight nose with a bit more flesh on the palate giving a dark cherry fruit, very grippy tannins and a dry, savoury finish with toasted spices, cocoa and a bit of cedar. -RH" 16/20 stars, Jancis Robinson's Purple Pages"

I'm not buying anything now, but thanks for posting. We can't all keep up with every online retailer, so it is good to be alerted when a Port (or Douro or Madeira) deal comes along.

Sadly, some of us are buyers, when the right thing comes along at the right price, regardless of whether or not it fits into the budget. [imnewhere.gif] Sound familiar? [d_training.gif]

After all, who can resist a great Port or Douro wine or bargain? [shrug.gif]

In for half a case. This definitely did not fit into the budget... but sometimes you just have to pull the trigger! [cheers.gif]
