Best < $100 Madeira?
I'd have to go with the very serious 1989 D'Oliveiras Malvazia. A lot of bang for the buck.

We talking about what's available in the states or are you including the island?
I might also throw out the 82 Barbieto Boal and the 88 D'Oliveira Terrantez out there.
On the island, some of the products of Barros e Souza and Borges are really nice and real bargins. Not imported to the states however.

Eric,
When you mention of what's available on 'the island', does one need to purchase it ON the island, or is there a way to purchase such on line and have it shipped?
Thanks, Eric.

Was talking about purchasing on island.
I don't even think Barros e Souza has a computer.

20 year H&H terrantez. The Barbeito 20 year malvasia is also a winner.

I don't know if ABSL has a computer. What i do know, and have a couple of cases of ABSL Madeiras to prove it it that they do ship overseas.
For purity, intensity, clarity they are second to no one. I hope that i can keep ordering their subtle, nuanced wines for many years to come.
Computer or not.

I would agree with Eric's selection, as I was also thinking of the 1988 D'Oliveiras Terrantez. First thing that came to mind.
Barry, although certainly not impossible to purchase into the USA from Madeira ... it is not very easy either. More complicated than even Canadian Provinces. Good luck!![In Training [d_training.gif]](./images/smilies/d_training.gif)

I also vote for the 1988 D'Oliveiras Terrantez. For my taste, pretty magical stuff.
