Sammamish - Los Angeles - Denmark. Allmost a perfect triangel.
But for sure. You guys sounds crayzy enough, just the kinds of friends I go for!
Whenever I comes to the States, I'll look You up.
But the travelling is bad for my ports, so I have to drink one of Yours...
But Then again, You are ofcourse most welcome in my house in Denmark. And then the port will be on me. Maby I will serve You with a Niepoort Colheita 1935? How does that Sound?

Let me see...the Ni35 needs 3-4 hours of decanting. If You leave right after the semifinal Arg-Hol. I Can have it "up and running" tomorrow morning (early).

I make an awesome goat cheese cheesecake with red wine grape compote, but it goes better with VP and doesn't travel well either. So you come to Colorado for that, and I'll come to Denmark for colheitas. I'm in a wine tasting group here and one of the members is from Denmark as well, and still has a home and cellar there.Allan Engelsted Laurents wrote:Let me see...the Ni35 needs 3-4 hours of decanting. A good deal! It seems to me that All the crazy portpeople lives in the States?
Imagine a cheesecake from 1935
And just because I had 3 bottles sticking to the cealing, I got invited to the US of A, incl. One Cheesecake made from goat.

Re: What Port(s) have you purchased this week?
Just found some VPs at a local grocery store on discount. The prices were OK but not great, so I talked the wine steward down quite a bit if I took four bottles:
1985 Smith Woodhouse VP
2000 Dow's VP
2003 Cockburn VP
2007 Graham's VP
$70 on the SW. $60 on the rest.

Re: What Port(s) have you purchased this week?
Here in Edmonton the '99 Vau costs $35...........imagine, with Alberta having the lowest taxes on wine in all of Canada it costs more here in a privatized retail market than it does in the government monopoly in Quebec. How does that happen?Frederick Blais wrote:Soon some Sandeman Vau 1999 as they release it in Quebec for 25$ a bottle
Mahmoud.
PS: In hushed tones.........Actually, I do know, it's not the retailer but rather the wholesalers who jack up the price.

Re: What Port(s) have you purchased this week?
And since I'm on this thread I should mention that I found a few older bottles of 2000 Smith Woodhouse VP, in a small town, for only $38 - considering that the most recent vintage on the market is the 2011 VP, I have to believe that it was a very old price. It was the only VP in the store.
Ah, yes, they also had a single bottle of 2000 Sandeman's LBV (bottled in 2004) for $20 so I had to buy that one as well.
Cheers.........................Mahmoud.

I like the 2000 Smith Woodhouse and that is a really good price for it. Nice score!Mahmoud Ali wrote:And since I'm on this thread I should mention that I found a few older bottles of 2000 Smith Woodhouse VP, in a small town, for only $38 - considering that the most recent vintage on the market is the 2011 VP, I have to believe that it was a very old price. Let us know how the Sandeman is, I'm curious how it's doing now that it's 14 years old.

Bought a bottle of Croft 1963, UK bottled and in nice condition last week from someone who had developed an alcohol allergy and can't drink any more.
