2012 Sa de Baixo "Palestra" Tinto Douro, Portugal
90 POINTS
ORDER 12 BOTTLES; DISCOUNT TABULATES AUTOMATICALLY TO $72

From Bin Ends: Portugal has become one of the leading go-to regions for high-quality, low-priced wines and has emerged as a leader in the production of outstanding red wine on the cheap. It is not uncommon to find a full-bodied, lushly-textured and delicious Portuguese red wine for under $10. This country just can't be beat on the price-to-quality ratio, so it really came as no surprise when we came across today's Buy the Case Special, the 2010 Sa de Baixo "Palestra" Tinto Douro. This 90-point stunner is everything you want in a rich, red wine - and no hefty price tag. Check it out!

"This 22 hectare estate is owned and run by Dão Sul, a company founded in 1989 by four ambitious young partners, which now controls 220 hectares spread over 6 estates and 4 regions. Carlos Moura, the winemaker, completed a Masters in Oenology before taking over the reins in 2000. His aim is to emphasize the fruit character of each variety while remaining true to the regional style. His wines are all the more impressive because each one does taste typical of its region of origin while remaining commercially appealing. The "Palestra" is made at the Quinta Sá de Baixo in the Baixo-Corgo region of the Douro and is an equal blend of the great Port grapes Touriga Nacional, Tinta Barroca and Tinta Roriz. Quite deep purple red colored, the nose is full of ripe black fruits, notably mulberry and blackberry, with warm and spicy overtones. The palate is medium-to-full-bodied, richly-fruited yet surprisingly elegant and supple. The finish is warm and spicy, with gentle ripe tannins." - 90 points, Wine Enthusiast Magazine

Well since WE scored it you better deduct about 3-4 points to get a more accurate score :stir:
Still seems like a darn good deal for a daily drinker.
