2009 Quinta do Tedo Porto Vintage - Portugal, Douro, Porto (10/3/2012)

-- tasted non-blind over 3 – 4 hours --

NOSE: intoxicating; deep; brooding; spicy – black pepper; only moderately expressive.

BODY: impenetrable black-violet color; full bodied.

TASTE: wow! Incredible acid and tannin; 20% alcohol can be felt in the belly; sweet; big, but not a caricature or ridiculous; strong mint/menthol note; purple-fruited; this is very good --- my only complaint is that the alcohol pokes through more than I’d like, but I suppose that’s somewhat to be expected of a Vintage Port.
