The `94 Noval LBV.

When it is 30 degrees outside, I am a tad wary about opening some port but a quick visit to DeVines downtown Edmonton resulted in an open split of said Noval on the tasting counter. As I have some in my cellar, thought I would check it out. Found a fair amount of heat on the finish and staff were wondering about a downturn? Any thoughts?

please have a look if they are filtered or unfiltered LBVs (although Ive never seen an unfiltered LBV of Noval 94). If I would have any filtered bottles I drink them up. 94 is a marvellous year and Noval is definitely in the very very forward position, but after all its an LBV.

According to an information, given from a (basically) reliable german dealer, there is no unfiltered version of the Noval LBV 1994. I had the 1994 once and there was no sediment at all.

Coincidentlly, this is my all time favorite LBV bottling. It is also the only LBV that I have ever purchased by the case. I have consumed 2 full cases so far, have one bottle left at home and nearly a case in the UK. There is NO WAY that this is over the hill. It keeps getting better imo. Maybe the 375 advanced quicker or saw some heat, but having these a couple of dozen times now, from the moment they were released to one bottle in 2006, they have all been spectacular. I love 'em and believe they are far from "needing" to be consumed. YMMV.
