Free trip available for the 2007 Port Harvest Tour!!

Post by Mike S1. »

Hello everyone,

This is quite a weird offer, but I have a trip to Portugal scheduled for with Roy for the 2007 Port Harvest Tour Oct. 1st - 7th but I can no longer make the trip. Nor can I find someone to attend the trip in my place, so I’m here to offer the trip to anyone who may come forward and accept my invitation – it’s about a $4000 value for free.

Here are the catches; you must accept the trip and schedule a flight ASAP! If you want to make it on time you’ll need to fly out this Saturday. I know this is a little too sudden for many of you and I wish I could have offered this opportunity sooner but I my situation was a little questionable up until today as I had received confirming news only just last night.

In any case, if you want to take it or you need more information you may email me at Scianamblo@gmail.com. Unfortunately I will be out of town all day tomorrow and tomorrow night, but I believe you may contact Roy to fill the position if I’m unavailable. Hopefully Roy can add to this with regard to what might be required for one of you to make this happen.

I hope someone can enjoy this trip in my place the way I wanted to !!!!

All the best,
Mike

Mike,

A shame you won't be able to make, it would have been nice to meet you and have some fun with you. Hopefully in the future we can share some Port. However, it is VERY generous of you to offer it up for free. I do know of someone that may be able to and I've emailed him.

A shame indeed, I wish I felt it was manageable for me to attend. It would be a shame to have the trip go to waste. Lets hope someone can enjoy it.

This must happen by Friday. I have had a few emails asking for information and expressing interest. I have kept them in order and first come first served from that short list, or if they can't make it ... anyone who beats the deadline that follows.

This offer is good through mid-night on Friday EST (9 p.m. PST). Thereafter, it will be impossible to make happen. So for those that are still interested, you will have to jump through some hoops rather quickly and I hope someone can. After that, it will be impossible to make the necessary changes with restaurants, hotels and producers. So if you are serious ... get going quickly!

I don't think that anyone will make such an offer ever again, so view this as a once in a lifetime opportunity!

Holy Douro!

I can't believe all of the emails for this FREE trip. Thanks to Mike for filling my email box today!

If you have not received word from me ... please know that the trip has been graciously accepted by one of the FTLOP faithful.

Mike, thanks for your very thoughtful gift!

Congratulations to Marco DeFreitas for figuring out a way to make this work. You are in for the trip of a lifetime. 8--)

Mike,

You gracious gift to the forum is most appreciated. I am truely sorry that you could not make it, but rest assured that it went to someone very passionate about Portuguese wines.

Thank you very much!

Hooray!
Well I'm back in town and happy to hear that the trip has been filled appropriately. It's very upsetting that I couldn't make the voyage, but I'm pleased to know that nothing was wasted. Congratulations Marco, I can't wait to hear the report.

This truly IS a generous offer, it is unfortunate you could not make this Mike.

Mike,

<I know that you were unable to join us, but I must say that this was one of the best trips we have had yet. A great group from all over and some real partyers to say the least. I truly hope that you can join us in May for the Fortification Tour, which will make another trip to both the Port & Madeira regions. Thanks for providing Marco with the opportunity! Talk to you soon.

We just got back to Porto from the Douro... just enough time to grab some internet time... AMAZING trip. Highly recommended for those considering this in the future.

Now... I need to go grab more wines before dinner...
