Cockburn 20 Year Old Tawny Port

Post by dave berg »

I had expected this to be a much improved version of the 10 year, but not at all. It does have a compelling nose, like musty, freshly fermenting fruit, maybe like plum, really intriguing and compelling. It has a light amber color, like Australian Trafford or Buller's, or even the Carvalhas 10 year, and a very similar flavor too. Not really oaky or woody like the 10 year, a bit sweet, but OK by the 3rd day. I'd say the 10 year is much more intense. It has a nice toasty quality. I'd overwhelmingly vote for the 10 year.
