2013 Colheita Cask (bottled 2022)
Day 2 of the 2022 Quevedo Prestige Advent Calendar
Color: dark red with some garnet, opaque center. Slightly more transparency at the rim on this one than the Burgundy Barrel version.
Nose: also fruity and grapey, with maybe some blueberry too. Possibly a faint hint of caramel, but also doesn't really smell like a tawny. Faint minerality gives it a bit of an edge, and the nose seems somewhat cold (which is probably a combination of the blue fruits and minerality).
Palate: simultaneously sharper/harder than the Burgundy Barrel version, but also more tawny-like though still nothing like a tawny. This also tastes like a 2013 LBV that spent 6 years in wood, but it retained more tannins and flavors from that end of the ruby Port spectrum. But then it also developed stronger wood-aged notes, leaving it presenting as more confused than the Burgundy Barrel version.
Score: 92 points. I toyed with one more point but ultimately settled on 92. This is an excellent LBV with a few tawny Port notes mixed in to make it smoother and mellower, but it isn't as smooth or as mellow as the Burgundy Barrel version. As with the Burgundy Barrel version, this presents as less confused than your typical 10 year old Tawny Port because it is firmly in the ruby camp. It is definitely odd that it is labeled a Colheita yet looks, smells, and tastes so much like an LBV, but it makes a very nice LBV.
