1995 Quevedo Colheita Cask (2022)

Day 8 of the 2022 Quevedo Prestige Advent Calendar

Color: tawny-ish ruby, some garnet. Center not opaque. Starting to show some tawny-tinted notes at the rim.

Nose: orange, also some pith, cranberry?, some very faint vanilla, possibly some sweet lime.

Palate: smooth, rich, and luscious. There's a texture akin to honey but which is interrupted by acidity. Some caramelized secondary red fruits. Some definite tanginess to complement a rich sweetness. I'd never guess a 27-year old Colheita, but might guess 17-18 because this does finally seem like a Port that is on its Colheita journey.

Score: 92 points. As with the last pair (1997) I like this better than the Tonel version, but I'm not sure it's an entire point better. So we'll stick with the same score.
