2020 Quevedo Vintage Port
Day 14 of the 2022 Quevedo Prestige Advent Calendar
Tasted pop-and-pour, then left to sit in glass for 90 minutes and re-tasted.
Color: inky dark magenta, opaque except for about 3/8" at the rim.
Nose: blackberry, boysenberry, something faintly astringent, and fresh green beans? Cold minerality.
Palate: purple fruit with a dusting of cocoa powder, some faint tart raspberries, silky but strong tannins almost chalky, just enough acidity. Somewhat bitter note transitioning to the finish. Medium to med light body. Less sweet than 2019, possibly as far as off dry.
Score: 90 points. Sits right on the edge for me between "I would accept another glass if offered" and "I'll ask for another glass." I feel like this will age longer than the 2019, but the 2019 is more my style due to the level of sweetness.
