Quevedo 40 Year Old Tawny Port (bottled 2022)

Day 18 of the 2022 Quevedo Prestige Advent Calendar

Color: dark tawny with some red tint left. Nice legs.

Nose: dried apricot, some plum, some faint vanilla, some very faint vinagrinho. A little bit of alcohol, too.

Palate: smooth, round, bold. Lush. Some vanilla caramel, some hints of coffee. Sweet citrus, possibly some mildly tart apricot. Nice and sweet, but with good acidity to keep it in balance especially during the transition to the finish where the acidity swells warmingly without ever becoming searing.

Score: 94 points, and that might be stingy. One of my favorite qualities of this 40 is how well it shows pop-n-pour - it's ready to serve immediately with no need for air time. My favorite of the Advent calendar so far.
