1970 Robertson’s Rebello Valente Vintage Port:
Showing lots of age in the color I was a bit worried about this one. I’ve had an ’83 that was average at best, so I was very curious to see how this would do. The nose was fully aged with some very sexy rose pedals, white cherries, lavender, cinnamon, and spices. A bit lean at first, this hits its full stride at about 9 hours after decanting. Lots of spices and delecate cherries on a smooth body that was hard to set down. This was a very elegant port, not a school yard bully, but a shy cute girl that was just waiting to show what she had to offer. A wonderful surprise of the night from a producer rarely seen or talked about. 93 points. 12/27/08

Really nice to hear som positive comments on this rather seldom seen Port. I have just bought a set of 1960, 63, 66, 70 and 75 from this producer because I have had some surprisingly good experiences with Rebello Valente. I can't explain why but I have the same experience about decanting the bottles in very good time before enjoying.

Sbmoose,
Yes a long decant really helped this one out and I'd suggest the same for your '70. I am also curious as to how the others taste so please do come back and let us know how they turn out.
P.S. We are a real names forum, so if you could kindly change your username I'd appreciate it, thanks again. Here are directions on how to. http://www.fortheloveofport.com/ftlopfo ... &sk=t&sd=a
