TNR: Offley White Port

Post by Mike Kerr »

Just wondering if anyone has tried this?

Someone had recommended Osborne White Port in a previous (old)thread, but it wasn't clear if that was the Portugese Osborne or the Spanish Osborne.

Thanks!

Mike.

Mike,

I tried this one in '04 here is my tasting note:

Offley White Port
Straw yellow in color with a lemon yellow rim and great clarity. The wine is quite fragrant with honeydew mellon, strawberry and raspberry fragrances with hints of apricot. Very acidic and sweet, and would be cloying after more than a glass. Fairly light bodied with melon, apricot and red raspberry flavors. Not my style of port, but not bad for a white port, and not completely dominated by apricot fragrances and flavors as are so many others. Consumed chilled. 86/100

For me, the Churchill's Dry White Port is the best I have tried to date.

Thanks Kevin!

Based on the overwhelmingly positive comments on the Churchill, I've placed an order with my local wine shop. Can't wait!

Meanwhile, I may just try the Offley if they get it back in stock here.

Mike.
